Family Law can be the most difficult area of law because issues surrounding family law are so charged with emotion. As your attorney, I work hard to understand and meet your needs as you go through this trying time.
Divorce encompasses so many different issues - child custody / support / visitation, marital property division and non-marital property protection, valuation of property and business ownership, spousal support / maintenance. My goal is to put together a divorce case that protects your rights. It is important to have an attorney who knows how to negotiate the best possible settlement. Having been trained in collaborative divorce I know that, especially when children are involved, people want to make their separation as civil as possible. Working together collaboratively allows us to come up with solutions that are mutually beneficial without all of the anger and frustration that is usually associated with a divorce hearing.
Under Kentucky Law, child custody, support and visitation can be revisited and reevaluated at any time (within certain guidelines). As your attorney I will utilize the law to make sure you gain or keep custody. You need someone who knows how to calculate child support correctly (especially important if you are self-employed). Finally, I will fight to get you the time you need to develop a secure bond with your child.
As a grandparent or close family member I know you are trying to protect a child you know from harm. Gaining third party custody can be crucial. This includes everything from child guardianship to adoption. Through this "spectrum of custody" I will fight to get you the type of custodial arrangement that best suits the child's needs.
Family Law goes beyond just divorce. I have represented hundreds of families who have been charged with abuse or neglect by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. These charges can be devastating as they can result in temporary or permanent custody loss. I will make sure the social worker is forced to prove their case.
Helping protect an elderly family member from harming themselves or others is important. This can be resolved by anything from a signed power of attorney to helping a family member get guardianship or conservators of an elderly family member.
The bottom line is you need a family law attorney who is well versed in all areas of family law and can fight to protect your rights, your children's rights and what you have worked so hard to acquire for your family. I am that attorney.
